About the Golf Committee

The Golf Committee is a group of nine volunteers and are elected by the members of the golf club. The committee acts in an advisory capacity with the best interests of the membership and the golf course as our guiding influence. As the need for action is identified the committee will make recommendations to the ExCom and seek approval for aspects of golf club operations such as:

  • Annual Operations Budget
  • Membership and daily greens fee rates
  • Capital spending from reserves

Elected committee members are expected to serve three-year terms. Elections are held at the annual

golf club member’s meeting, traditionally held at the golf course on the first weekend in September.

Each annual meeting routinely has three committee slots that become available. Committee candidates

at the end of the 3-year term that desire to return to their position compete with all members that also

seek to serve. Golf Club members determine the make-up of the committee via ballot selection. The

committee chairperson is selected by nine member committee.

The committee members have the responsibilities listed above as well as other tasks such as:

  • Annual tournament schedule and choosing respective tourney leaders for each event
  • Maintaining a Capital Improvement Plan and setting priority to the projects listed therein
  • Initiating and coordinating “volunteer efforts” that help the golfer’s experience at the course be a positive one
  • Attending monthly committee planning meetings
  • Acting as the membership’s voice in setting project priority or interfacing with EXCOM

Recent improvements at the golf course (examples: construction of the 6th hole bridge, construction of

the pavilion, construction of a new leach field, yardage markers installed on the driving range, re-grading

of the cart path on the 8th hole, and air conditioning in the pro shop) were all initiated and driven to

completion by members of the golf committee.

The volunteers that make up the golf committee all have a passion for this gem that is the Frye Island

Golf Club.
